"In the near future I'll be replacing this blog with something that more closely relates to this website design."

Its been a great year with Blogger, but its time for CPP to move on to bigger and better things. I appreciate the support and interest from everyone who follows this page, and I hope that all of you will continue to follow along at the new location. This move opens up many more opportunities for plugins and customization, and it also allows for the creation of a multi-page blog, which will give me the ability to designate certain areas of the domain to the most pressing issues.

I have held off on making updates lately, in part due to this move, and also a lack of time; but, rest assured that I do have some fun stuff on the way.

Thanks again — I hope to hear from you at jaydantinne.com/blog.

Cheers!

Buzzzzz

Having some serious fun with a home made macro lens that gives some really cool skewing around the edge of the frame, and a DOF of about 1mm. I'll continue trying to improve on this technique, but for a first take I have to say I'm pretty stoked...

This bee was zipping around outside my house and I caught a couple shots of him on a flower. My lens has no focal adjustment, so you just have to move the camera around to grab a sharp snap, and the focal length is no more than an inch — so naturally it was quite a challenge to capture this little guy on the move. But I like the way that tiny DOF isolates certain parts of his body. Also, you can actually see the pollen grains stuck to his hair!

Website Launch

I've updated my website, and I think its looking pretty sharp. Feedback is always appreciated! [requires Flash Player] In the near future I'll be replacing this blog with something that more closely relates to this website design.

Urban Outfitters & AIGA present: INDEX — A Designers Resource Fair, June 18th, Philadelphia

Last night I had the opportunity to check out the INDEX fair, sponsored by the AIGA and held at Urban Outfitters' headquarters in the old Navy Yard in South Philadelphia. UO bought a number of old buildings in the Navy Yard and converted them into offices. The largest of these (where INDEX was held) is actually a former ship factory. Its the length of a football field and still contains a lot of the original equipment. The place is a blend of old industrialism and modern design asthetic, fused with the elements of an Asian garden — thickets of Bamboo and Koi ponds abound. Plenty of great paper/print vendors and an excellent catoring service made for an all around great evening. I must say that I'm quite jealous of the Urban Outfitters design dept.

Typical design office at Urban Outfitters. There are a number of these. All of the desks appear to be antique sewing tables.

Large ponds everywhere indoors hold some interesting water plants and HUGE Koi fish.

Main Lobby of the building where the INDEX event was held. You can see how a whole ship could have fit in here at one time.

A look at some of the beams and bamboo... and some dude wiggin' out in the background.

Main Building from the outside. Former ship-building factory.

Vase in the lobby

Some sort of train car. I'm sure they just acquired this thing with the factory.

Lots of Bamboo.

Plants everywhere!

Some sort of machinery...
